How solar damaged is your skin?

Stage I damaged skin
No wrinkles or rough spots, but photoaging can be seen in the epidermal (top most) layer of skin in the form of freckles and dull looking skin due to an increase in the thickness of the corneum. Exfolliating this layer of skin will improve both pigmentation and luminosity.

Stage II damaged skin
Dynamic wrinkles present (lines seen during different facial expressions), often first noticed around the eyes and in the forehead area. Rough spots may also be felt but are not visible. Photoaging at this stage involves both the epidermis and dermis.

Stage III damaged skin
Wrinkles may have become folds at this stage. Rough spots are both palpable and visible. Photoaging is seen both in the epidermis and dermis in the form of uneven pigmentation, broken blood vessels and the texture of skin feels thick and leathery and may look yellow tinged.

Stage IV damaged skin
At this stage, often only wrinkles are seen. There may be a yellow-grey tinge to skin and there will often be a history of previous skin cancers. It may be difficult to wear make-up as it will often cake and crack.
