Mature women's services

We currently live in a culture and society that puts youth on a pedestal but does not always value maturity, especially in women. This has made it harder for some women to preserve their sense of self-worth, potential and sexuality as they age.

Happily,  today’s older women are returning to university, starting businesses, running marathons and enjoying healthy sex lives. After decades of living an active and busy life, you can expect some bodily wear and tear. In keeping with this, you can also expect that you may have to take greater care of your body as it helps you rise to your next challenge.

Here are just a few of the ways I help my more mature patients:

  • management of the perimenopause and menopausal period, including up-to-date advice regarding hormone replacement therapy options (HRT) as well as non-hormonal options for managing changing or heavy periods,  dry skin, hair, painful sex, low libido, weak bladders and other issues including the emotional adjustment to this new phase of your life
  • osteoporosis screening and advice on maintaining healthy bones and an active lifestyle
  • screening high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and a decline in memory
  • screening for sensory decline, such as vision and hearing and sense of smell and balance.
  • screening for women’s cancers, including mammography, breast checks and pap smears and other cancers such as bowel cancer and skin cancers
  • advice on older age immunisations such as the Herpes Zoster vaccine at age 60 or older, the Pneumococcal booster vaccine at age 65 or older, tetanus booster every 10 years and annual influenza vaccine
